Whilst studying for my A-Levels I was inspired by the bold simplicity of Matisse’s “Jazz” - a series of striking paper cut-outs with bright and bold colours. I was fascinated by the way Matisse captured light, shape, mood and depth with flat pieces of paper just as well as other media such as paint.

I experimented with my own interpretations and found that cut-outs suited my contemporary style. I have tried capturing various different subjects from nudes to flowers, using high quality papers chosen especially for their intense colours.

I am particularly attached to my paper cutouts and as such retain all originals myself although I reproduce high quality modern prints.
